Operating from Otaru gives us the flexibility to choose the most suitable mountains each day based on snowfall, weather, and avalanche conditions. Rather than being limited to a single resort, we can travel to whichever area offers the best riding.

Your guide is a qualified, certified, and fully insured local professional with extensive experience throughout western Hokkaido. Every day is planned with safety, snow quality, and your group's objectives in mind.

Guiding Areas

Depending on conditions, guided days may take place at:

• Kiroro Resort

• Sapporo Teine

• Asari Ski Resort

• Otaru Tenguyama Ski Resort

Guiding may include resort riding, lift-accessed sidecountry, or full backcountry touring where appropriate. Terrain selection is based on current conditions, guest ability, and group objectives.

Typical Guided Days

Each morning begins with a review of the latest weather, snowfall, and avalanche information before selecting the most suitable destination.

A typical day includes:

• Morning meeting and departure

• Transport to the selected ski area

• Full-day private guiding

• Avalanche safety discussion where appropriate

• Return to Otaru in the afternoon or evening

• Planning for the following day's objectives

No two days are the same, with plans adjusted to make the most of current mountain conditions.

Accommodation

Many guests choose to stay at Powder House Otaru, a comfortable private house located just outside central Otaru.

The house provides an excellent base for accessing the surrounding ski areas, with most destinations between 10 and 40 minutes away by car.

Who This Is For

Private guiding is suitable for confident skiers and snowboarders who are comfortable riding all areas of the mountain and are looking to explore local terrain with an experienced guide.

Backcountry experience is helpful but not essential depending on the terrain selected.

Guiding Rates

Private Guiding

From ¥360,000 JPY for three full guided days (1–5 guests, tax included).

The guiding fee includes:

• Three full days of private guiding

• Daily transport between Otaru and the selected ski area

• Qualified, certified, locally based guide

• Custom daily planning based on weather, snow, and group objectives

Accommodation

Powder House Otaru is available separately from ¥220,000 JPY for a four-night stay (subject to availability).
